Join us for a day of weaving, learning and fun in light-filled artist studio/home Casa Joshua Tree. Create your own handwoven wall hanging tapestry in an inspired and relaxing atmosphere full of new friends and desert vibes. Color & fiber enthusiasts, get excited!
You’ll receive instruction from color and fiber enthusiast, Vanessa Lauria, who’s traveling from her studio in western NY to spend the day with us. Vanessa is the maker behind the handwoven scarf and accessories business, pidge pidge. Check out her weaving and natural dye adventures on instagram!
Loom kit (yours to keep), supplies, yarn and other goodies will be provided. In addition, you’ll receive an detailed 20+ page instruction booklet with step-by-step photos so you can continue your weaving journey after the workshop. You’ll learn how to warp a loom, plain weave, soumak braid and other fun techniques to create texture. Beginners & those who have woven before are welcome- and no experience is necessary.
As a workshop participant, you will receive:

- personalized instruction with artist Vanessa Lauria in a small class setting
- 20+ page illustrated instructional booklet
- two weaving sessions: morning & afternoon!

Workshop Participants are responsible for their own transportation and hotel/ airbnb accomodations. Once you are registered, we will send you detailed information with our suggestions for traveling to Joshua Tree and places to stay.

Vanessa Lauria is the maker and artist behind pidge pidge. She weaves modern scarves, accessories and home decor that merge the craft of traditional weaving with a passion for modern color and texture. Her work is colorful and vibrant, and she loves to experiment with unique fibers and play with unexpected color combinations. Vanessa has previously taught Weaving at Makers Buffalo in her hometown of Buffalo, NY. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus on Fibers from Syracuse University.
