It's been a hot minute since the Design*Sponge Before and After feature about Casa Joshua Tree. I took SO many photos for that story, and I thought it would be fun to share some of the extras with you! I love seeing the photos side by side, such a dramatic change. I've been living with this kitchen for about a year now, and everything has held up fabulously- I wouldn't change a thing.
I hired a professional painter to help me with the cabinets. He cleaned & lightly sanded them, and then sprayed 2 thin coats of Behr Marquee Semi-Gloss Enamel Paint in Ultra Pure White. The gloss finish allows for easy clean-ups, stuff wipes right off.
The cabinet hardware is are Franklin Brass Francisco handles in Oil-Rubbed Bronze.
I built the hook rack myself, and hang my cutting boards, mits, and bags. The Pothos plant is really happy, it gets great light from the kitchen window and has gotten even bigger. The magnetic knife rack was also an amazon find, and helps keep clutter off the counters.
I love the look of rugs in the kitchen, but I'm too messy to put a precious fancy rug. I opted for a printed cotton rug from Urban Outfitters, which I wash regularly. It's held up pretty well, and was relatively inexpensive so I can change it up when I'm ready for something new (or i spill wine on it!)
This makeover was really simple, and relatively inexpensive. I spent the most money on the paint and hiring a painter, which I would absolutely recommend doing. The cost was totally worth it!
