Tatyana Fazlalizadeh came to stay at Casa Joshua Tree in August 2016 as the very first Creative In Residence. She is a painter and activist who is "taking the stories and faces of women and people of color to the streets to force their lives onto public conversation and consideration." Her project Stop Telling Women to Smile is an on-going art series that addresses gender-based street harassment. She recently completed a cross-country tour installing art along the way, called When Women Disrupt.

I visited Graham Keegan in his Los Angeles studio for a quick visit to plan for our May 6 Workshop at Casa Joshua Tree. Graham will be bringing his dye studio on the road to Joshua Tree for our event. Reserve your space now!
His sunlight Eastside LA studio is filled with beautiful textiles. Graham grows and processes all his own dyes using natural materials, and the sidewalk in front of the studio is filled with plants. He gave me a little tour on a sunny Wednesday afternoon.Read More
This year was my first "real" Christmas in Casa Joshua Tree, and Christmas is my favorite holiday. I say "real" because last year the house was still in renovation disarray, so it doesn't count! This past September, a group of 8 wonderful folks gathered in my home for the very first Casa Joshua Tree Watercolor Workshop. What a day. I dreamt of having a creative space where I could teach people for SO long...Having this day actually happen was HUGE. Not gonna lie, I got a little misty-eyed quite a few times. I couldn't have imagined a better day- fabulous students, beautiful weather, and (of course) lots of #desertvibes.Read More

Last week my before & after story was up on Design*Sponge!
Pinch me, is this real life? Is my house on my most favorite website ever? YES! I still can't believe it. I took a screenshot to prove it really happened and wasn't just a dream. The masthead with Casa Joshua Tree right there! <<swoon>>
Head on over to check out the full story. In the coming weeks I'll be posting more photos, sources, and advice I learned from the renovations. Stay tuned!
